![]() I also didn't love the portrayal of Celaena - she's supposed to be this bad ass assassin, but she doesn't wake up when people bust up in her room at night? And she eats unlabeled candy that she just FINDS on her bed while she's in the middle of a competition for her life.I mean.I'm not even an assassin, and I would have known better. A love triangle is usually the kiss of death for a book and me, but I have SO many people who's book opinions I respect who love this series, so I am going to stick with it. I wanted more Hunger Games style action in the competition, but what I got was a love triangle, which I HATE. What did NOT work for me: It was SO slow - I was bored with it a lot of the time. ![]() I liked the premise of book one, and I am excited to see what other history will be revealed about our assassin and her past (there's obviously more going on with those dead parents, am I right). I have high hopes for the continuation of the series. I enjoyed the set up for what (I hope) will be a pretty epic story to come. ![]() What worked for me: I loved the world building. Ok, so here's the deal: I will continue reading.so don't crucify me based on this review. ![]()
